Olea Medical software, PerfScape™ and NeuroScape™, outperform its competitors in the preliminary results of a comparative study
28th, May 2010 - Barcelona, SPAIN
Olea Medical’s stroke diagnosis suite surpasses its main competitors in a comparative study conducted at the Center for Stroke Research Berlin at Charité-university hospital that aims to evaluate four major post-processing software packages used for perfusion MRI assessment. The investigation, led by Prof. Fiebach and the Stroke MRI group, reveals considerable discrepancies between the different applications and highlights the superior performances of PerfScape™ & NeuroScape™.
The different software solutions are rated on the grounds of accuracy, speed, and automated AIF selection among others. Based on these criteria, Olea Medical’s stroke suite outperforms its competitors on the following criteria: calculation time, mismatch evaluation, artefacts, and user friendliness.
These results stand in the line of a series of scientific studies, including PerfScape™ & NeuroScape™ conducted by major stroke research centers worldwide (i.e. NIH/NINDS).

Olea Medical and the NIH/NINDS
Olea Medical, the NIH/NINDS and the Stroke Center of La Timone University Hospital in France collaborate to define PWI/DWI thresholds to better assess salvageable penumbral areas.
- La Ciotat, France, November 6th, 2009 – Olea Medical, the NIH National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) Section on Stroke Diagnostics and Therapeutics, and the Stroke Center of La Timone University Hospital in France will collaborate to define efficient thresholds of diffusion and perfusion maps with a view to accurately assessing salvageable penumbral areas.
Olea Medical (www.olea-medical.com) provides innovative imaging software solutions to help stroke physicians make fast and accurate diagnosis of acute stroke. NINDS (www.ninds.nih.gov) is the United States’ primary supporter of biomedical research on the brain and nervous system. As part of this collaboration, NINDS scientists, led by Dr. Steven Warach, will be using PerfScape™ and NeuroScape™, Olea Medical’s FDA-cleared software, in a prospective study comparing mismatch calculations produced with the software of Olea Medical versus qualitative evaluations of mismatch using MRI scanner provided images only.In a proof of concept study, Warach and colleagues reported that processing acute MRI studies is feasible using the Olea software.
About Olea Medical
Olea Medical designs and markets innovative acute stroke imaging applications that significantly improve the diagnosis process of acute stroke. Olea Medical aims to become the leader in providing safe & accurate medical imaging software allowing physicians to make faster and improved diagnosis, thus saving lives. PerfScape™ allows computing instantaneously perfusion maps from raw MRI data with unparalleled quality and not machine-dependent as it works on all MR scanners used in your hospital (Siemens, Philips, Toshiba, GE...). NeuroScape™ makes an instant multiparametric analysis of all series of images given by the MR scanners, and enables physicians to calculate the lesion volume, hypoperfused volume, and the mismatch diffusion/perfusion ratio.
